DNT-MTCI Organizes The international event of Rally of Yatch 2010

The Ministry of Tourism, Trade and Industry through the National Directorate of Tourism, together with the Association of Yachts of Australia's Northern Territory (CYANT) organizes the Event race Yachts Darwin-Dili, 2010.
The aim of this Yacht race is, to establish again the yacht racing Event that had started since 1973 and was stopped for many years now. During the years 1973 and 2002, the total of participants in the said event was 38 participants who carried out the trip from Darwin to Dili, consisting of two events: the first event, happened when Timor-leste was still under occupation Indonesia and Portugal (Portuguese Timor) and the second event in the year 2002, when Timor –Leste celebrated the restoration of independence.
This year, the Association of the Yachts of the territory North of Australia (CYANT) writes a new story along with East Timor. The Minister of Tourism, Trade and Industry, Mr. Gil Da Costa Alves , together with the delegation on the 12th of February of the year 2010, made a trip to Darwin-Australia to participate in the meeting with the Steering Committee. The delegation was received with honour and proud by the Government of Australia and the Northern Territory CYANT.
On 2 July 2009, from 11: 00 a.m., time of East Timor, there will be a fleet of boats sailboats with advanced technology, which will depart from the port of Darwin to the port of Dili and which will travel a distance of 425 nautical miles (NM).
"At this time, participants who have registered for the event are already pursuing a total of 8 contributors, and it is expected that the number will increase further at the end of this month of June," this issue was reported by the national tourism Director, José Quintas to Journalists, when they held a press conference in The Fomento Building Office , Mandarin Dili, on Wednesday (29/06).
According to Quintas, the Yacht race event will be one of the yearly events of DNT. The aim is to promote the tourism market of Australia, which focuses more attention on the area of maritime tourism. "This event aims to maritime tourism. Because East Timor has an exotic biodiversity and marine resources, " informed Quintas.
The opening of the Race of Yachts Darwin-Dili, will start on July 03, 2010, and will arrive in Dili on 6/7 July 2010.
"According to the plan will visit the Atauro Island, island Jaco, Com and Oe-Cusse during two months. This will greatly benefit our communities in the districts , because our foreign friends, also will buy the products of the Timorese as souvenir, "he said. It's not just visit the districts, according to the Director, this visit will also reach to sub districts.
There will also be the opportunity for communities to visit the boats on the 10th of July 2010. This event, will reward also delivering Cup winners. Premiums are like what happened in 1974. "The important thing for us is, as our communities work together well, showing a good image of East Timor to visitors and foreign participants, so they can promote our country," said the Director. Even though the Timorese still cannot participate in this event, because there is not still adequate facilities, however, next year, this Director expects , the Timorese may also be involved with other Nations. This yacht Race, according to the plan, will visit Darwin-Dili and Maluku (Indonezia). This international event will involve also some Ministries, such as the Ministry of Infrastructure (port of Dili), Ministry of agriculture and fisheries (Karantina), Department of immigration, customs service (Customs), Timor-Leste Tourism Centre (TLTC), Police Maritima, Ministry of health and the Ministry of defence.
