The Ministry of Tourism, Trade and Industry through the National Directorate of Tourism, together with the Association of Yachts of Australia's Northern Territory (CYANT) organizes the Event race Yachts Darwin-Dili, 2010.                                                                                                                                National Director of Tourism Jose Quintas announced on Thursday (August 9th) that the Ministry of Tourism, Commerce and Industry is organizing a weekly Sunset Fair to be held every evening throughout the dry season at Kristu Rei beach.  The event  launch on Saturday, September 11th, 2010, will feature Timorese and international entertainers, food stalls serving dishes from all over the world and a market for local handicrafts.  Guests at the launch – which is open to the public - will include several hundred Tour de Timor participants, members of the diplomatic community and government officials.

The Best yacht Rally of Asia Darwin - Dili

DILI – The Minister of Tourism, Trade and Industry (MTCI) Gil da Costa Alves said: the best Asian Yatch Rally is The Rally of Darwin-Dili (Darwin Dili Yacht Rally 2010). "The Government of the Northern Territory of Australia, praised and got really happy with our service commitment and dedication in this event. They said, this is the best  race happened during this time in Asia. Is the best, because we can quickly meet participants who come from the neighbouring country, Australia, "said  Minister Gil Alves to journalists after the welcoming ceremony for  the participants of the rally of yachts on the beach of Dili, Friday (09/07).

About no participants Timoreese in this event, the Minister of MTCI stated that,  in future the Timorese may also participate. But, in the opinion of the Minister, the Timorese must first folow the stage of pre - qualification and accept the pattern of race of the International Association Rally Yacht. "We hope that in future, they can also participate in this event," said Minister of MTCI.

To answer questions about the benefits of this activity, The Minister of MTCI said, this event can attract attention of people from other countries to visit East Timor. "This is an important step to attract the attention of foreigners to visit our country. With this event, we can also increase our economic performance through the tourism sector, "he explained. The MTCI also did not forget to thank the joint team during this time struggled in providing services to complete this event. Mainly , to the Maritime Police, The immigration Police, port of Dili, Customs, Tourism Centre and  the F-FDTL Naval Component.

In the same ocasiaão, the Minister of education of the Government of Australia's Northern Territory, Dr. Chris Burns said that, this event is important to be held again next year. "Important, because the Government of Timor-Leste, struggled a lot for this event to succeed. I don't promise, but there is the advantage for the year to increase the number of participants, "said Burns.

Regarding the prospect of this event, in accordance with Burns, the important thing is that , there should be  good relations between the two countries. "With good relations, Northern  territory of Australia is intended to help to bring about economic income for Timor-Leste, through the tourism sector. Because, Timor-Leste tourism has great potentialities  of nature. This is a good advantage to this nation, " he said.

The head of the Government of the Northern  Territory of  Australia, Paul Henderson, said that the Government of the Northern  territory of Australia, had allocated an amount of 25,000 Australian dollars for this yacht Rally event that was attended by 8 yachts. "This event causes the ties of friendship between East Timor and the Northern Territory of Australia will continue to stay strong until the future," said Henderson.

This year, MTCI together  with the Yacht  Association of the Northern Territory (CYANT) wrote  a new story about yacht rally in order to re-establish the rally event that had started since 1973, but stopped  during years. Media-MTCI
