National Directorate of Research and Development

1.    The National Directorate of Research and Development, as designated by DNPD is to study, design, propose and support economic and business development strategy of activities under the responsibility of economic activities by MTCI.

2.    The DNPD pursues the following assignments:

a)    Outline strategies and sectoral instruments of economic policy, potentially generating gains in productivity and competitiveness;

b)    Monitor the development of national economy, as well as international and make predictions in the short and medium term in the sectors of  tourism, commercial and industrial perspective specialization, regionalization and international competitiveness;

c)    Create a Database of the Ministry, prepare and provide information and basic statistical indicators on economic activities under its tutelage;

d)    Study and follow the concept of standardization, metrology and quality control, measurement standards of physical units and magnitude;

e)    Promover, coordenar e executar estudos de situação, global e sectorial, com vistas à formulação de medidas de política relevantes para as areas de intervenção do Ministério;

f)     Advise the Minister on the follow-up of activities of public bodies corporate or other nature under  his tutelage, including recommendations regarding protocols, international agreements and conventions;

g)    Develop internal programmes or in technical cooperation with other relevant national and international, in conjunction with hierarchies;

h)    Monitor the negotiations of international agreements relating to its field of competence;

i)      Analyse and provide advice on the establishment of partnerships with international activities subject by MTCI, depending on the cost-benefits for the Country.

j)     Technical advice in elaboration and development of programs and legislation related to its area of action;

k)    Maintain and manage a central database, specific information and documentation and make it available to MTCI services;

l)      Promote capacity building officials to increment of knowledge and qualification in coordination and management framework and human resources of the Ministry;

m)  Establishing coordination and cooperation with other national and international institutions, to develop its activities;

n)    Submit the report and its plan of activities, as well as preparing the business plan of the Ministry in coordination with the Director-General;

o)      Carrying out any other activities that are assigned to it under law or delegated by the Minister.
