Food and Economic Inspection
1. Food and economic inspection, hereinafter named as the IAE, is to the evaluation and communication of risks in the food chain, as well as prevention and enforcement of the legislation applicable to the exercise of economic activities in the sectors of food and not-food , with the exception of the games. 2. The IAE carries out tasks delegated by national coordination authority with the official control of foodstuffs and of national liaison with other government bodies and is endowed with technical and administrative autonomy. 3. The IAE is headed by a Director, assisted by a Deputy director for risks in the food chain, assimilated paid the Director-General and the National director, respectively. 4. The IAE pursues the following assignments: a) Providing technical support, on the matters referred to in paragraph 1, the Minister of tutelage , under status of main advisory body of Government decision support; b) Draw up and propose the national quality Standard for the protection of the consumer; c) Provide scientific and technical advice, recommendations and warnings, especially in matters related to human nutrition, welfare, plant health and genetically modified organisms; d) Regularly monitor the market and prevent products with periods of validity expired or counterfeit shall not be placed on the market; e) Characterizing and evaluating the risks which have a direct or indirect impact on the food chain, collaborating, in the area of competence with other authorities to food safety; f) Supervise the provision of products and services in accordance with legally prescribed, as well as the fulfilment of legal obligations of economic operators, research and investigation of the alleged infringement procedures whose jurisdiction is legally assigned; g) Ensure the accuracy and legality of advertising, consumer protection and corrective exercise authority and punishment pursuant to law; h) Run in collaboration with other relevant bodies, measures to ensure the supply of the Country in goods and services deemed essential in order to prevent hoarding situations; i) Promote and collaborate in the dissemination of the legislation on the exercise of the different sectors of the economy whose oversight it is assigned with consumer associations, business associations, unions and economic actors; j) Oversee all places which are performed industrial, touristic , comercial activities or other services , under the MTCI `s responsibility , with the exception of games; k) Collaborate with inspection procedures of health and the environment, if this is required; l) Any other activities which are assigned in accordance with legal requirements.
