Joint Promotion at The Asia Dive Expo (ADEX) 2010 in Singapore

In line with the promotional plans of the National Directorate for Tourism, Timor-Leste participated in the Asia Dive Expo on 9 – 11 April 2010 along with Dive Timor Lorosae, AustAsia Airline and the President Office. Supporting the efforts in shark conservation was one of the main objectives of the three-day expo. Presentation topics on the main stage focused on both the excitement of diving with sharks and the urgent need for shark conservation, especially as they relate to the inhumane practice of shark fining globally.

The Singapore Convention Center (Suntec City) was packed with participation from 20 countries and more than 100 dive operators, and also more than a thousand diver-visitors having large interest in new dive destinations; the selling point of Timor-Leste.

Tourism Timor-Leste’s stand was approached by 200 divers with some commitments to visit and explore the beauty of Timor-Leste underwater. In a separate stand, the President Office promoted the First Timor-Leste Dive Photo Competition (www.underwatertimorleste.com), which would be held from 9 to 15 October this year
