MTCI Realized the Sunset Fair in Cristo-Rei - Promotion of Tourism in Timor-Leste

The Ministry of Tourism,Trade and Industry (MTCI) held a Sunset Fair in the area o Areia Branca, Cristo-Rei., with the aim of promoting better tourism in Timor-Leste (TL).

The Sunset Fair of   Cristo-Rei  takes place in the  area of  Areia Branca beach , around the  monument of   Cristo-Rei , every Wednesday ,  by evening  starting  from   5 .00 p.m. until   10.00 p.m.

This Fair will last until the 15 December of this year. “The objective of this Sunset Fair, will help the private sector to attract tourists and  for the  development of private sector, "said the Head of  Promotion and Tourism , MTCI, Aquilino Santos Caeiro, when he  was organizing the fair in  Cristo-Rei. Aquilino Santos Caeiro  clarified that  , this sunset fair aims also to see  the creativity  and local product  quality  , how to develop the  local ptoduct in views of getting better.  

Aquilino dos Santos , also reported that the  activities of this Fair will not only be held in the year 2010, but also will repeat next year 2011. “Because of the climatic situation now, so it rained  a lot  and we can cancel for another day, " he commented .

This Sunset Fair  located  on the Beach  of  Areia Branca ,  according to Mr.   Aquilino, is a well known  space for tourism  .

"Because we  want to promote this space with these types of activities, causing people to come with their families and  also promote this space to develop further," said the head of promotion and Tourism.

Participated in this  Sunset Fair ,  groups from Dili district and sub-district of Maubara, Liquiçá district.  In total there are 42 groups, being 10 groups from abroad and 32 groups  from  Timor Leste .  All these groups have registred  in MTCI paying each, a  fee of $ 50,00.

At the same time, the chef of Ventura Hotel, Cesal da Costa has  pointed out that, this fair is to provide fun to Dili community and communities of other districts who came to participate.

“It's a bit sad for this fair to take place in a time of rain ", said the Chef  of the Cuisine.

According to Cesal da Costa, the  sunset fair  held at  Areia Branca , Cristo-Rei, constitutes a new space in which all persons enjoy there joining  for fun.

“I think this is really  an  ideal space to open the fair.   I think, for the next we will perform it in another space. However, we can say that the current development of our tourist beaches is not yet working well ", he stressed.

Hernany Teixeira Lopés Tuste of East Timor in  Darwin , said that  the fair is also a way how the nation of TL can attract tourists.

"This fair is really wonderful and spectacular.  I came from Darwin, and your fair here is fantastic, it is really amazing and wonderful , " he exclaimed.  According to  Hernany Teixeira Lopés,  this Fair will enjoy very much  the people o  TL,  so that , they cannot  stay isolated at home . It´s time for the people of Timor Leste  to develop their own identity and culture .

“ In  this Fair  the tourists  also want to see  about Timor-Leste Culture , because people  from other countries  ,  when they go back they want to take some  souvenir of Timor to be promoted. ”,  he commented.  

Therefore he assured that  , this Fair has a good security  because the  place of Cristo-Rei is   a sacre place  .
